Grass # 25

I love smelling fresh cut grass, missed having grass in DC and could not wait to plant grass on our new yard. Being outside after school in the grass is very calming. I was thinking about seeing the blades of grass individually in a composition and transforming them in some way.

Choosing the textured black background additional painting ideas surfaced so I would like to try this again. Layering with little patterns reminded me of aboriginal art and Yayoi Kusama.

Process: Layers of paint and patterns of thick paint to let dry with last layers being a few coats of black. The grass blades were painted in singular and layered brushstrokes and pattern applied last.
